    What we like: One of the biggest benefits of exercise bikes, especially the recumbent type, is that they significantly reduce the amount of stress on your joints, and the 900XL is no exception.     We found the seat and backrest to both be very comfortable and had no problem adjusting tensions to increase the challenge during a workout. It’s quiet enough that you can use it while you watch television, so there will always be entertainment while exercising.

    What we don’t like: While we’re big fans of the bike, there were a few things which we did not like and felt you should know. For one thing, the bike is recommended for riders between the heights of 5’6” to 6’3”.

    In our experience, however, riders as short as 5’3” were still able to use the bicycle without any significant discomfort or problems working the controls. If you or the person you are purchasing the cycle is shorter than that. However, you may want to look at other recumbents.

    The 900XL also takes a bit of time to put together, though that’s not unusual for a bike in this category. We did find that the instructions were very straightforward and easy to follow, so we feel anyone should be able to put the bike together without a problem.

    What we like: Size matters! While it may not have all the bells and whistles of many of the other bikes we’ve reviewed here on List Fitness, if space is at a premium in your household this is the best recumbent stationary bike for you.

    After working up a sweat with the 400XL’s eight levels of magnetic resistance, you can easily fold up the bike to about half its full size. When folded, the cycle is not much bigger than your average kitchen table’s chairs.

    Riders of all sizes and shapes should be able to take advantage of the numerous recumbent exercise bike benefits with the 400XL. Despite the folding recumbent bike’s small storage size, it’s still capable of supporting riders of almost all types. It lists a recommended height of between 5’2” and 6’2” with a supported weight maximum of 300lbs. Most fuller figured riders should fit without much problem with an ample 21 inches of space between the bike’s handles.

    What we don’t like: During testing we found the pulse reading to be a bit inaccurate. Some of the materials used on the bike also seem to be a bit low-quality.

    The good news is that the areas we had issues with are not central to the bike’s function. The most glaring area was with how the 400XL’s display is attached to the bike. It seems like it would break off easily, so we’d recommend handling it with care during use and while taking it out and putting into a folded position.
